Swine flu

Unbelievable things are happend!
When I heard about this kind of disease, I thaught it would happend in story. I major in Microbiology and I took classes about Virus, Immunology and so on. So I know about the risk of Swine flu. In the news paper, someone said this flu will be harmful more than AI;avian influenza bird flu. When AI infected to people in early 20th century, which called Spain flu, twnety five millions to fifty millions people was died in the world. So they guess this Swine flu can be like Spain flu. I'm little bit scared. Every day infected people's numbers are getting rise and countries' number also incresing. I think it'll make a huge problem. People will be thrown into confusion, economics will be not good. Is the Swine flu caused of human? If it is true, humans are paracites in the Earth. I'm worried and shame. :(

Werther effect

I couldn't believe it when I heard about copycat suicide which is happenning in Korea. My sister told me about it and I was really surprised. Recently, there are many suicide cases in Korea. Celebrities committed suicide and also many people committed suicide who didn't know each other before died together. That sounds really scary. Why these things happened? I think life term is not enough which I want to do. Was there no choice without suicide? I think if someone died cause of own problem that person's life doesn't finish after the person death. The others who know and connect with the dead person will share the dead person's problem. Suicide can't solve the problem. It brings bigger problem. I think everyone should know about this and they shouldn't choose suicide. Suicide is the silliest behavior in the world. Even if your life is not easy, life is wealth.

My first Easter

Last April 12th was Easter. It was my first Easter as a catholic. Before I got baptism ceremony, I had no idea what Easter is. I just knew about Easter is a christian holiday and people scavenge Easter eggs. That's all I know about Easter. And this Easter was very special to me. Because I've never thought I would have Easter in US. Fortunately, I had two kinds of experience in Easter. Last Friday, Mike, who is a instructor at English conversation club, hold an Easter party in his house. It was so much fun and I could enjoy ordinary Easter in US. On Saturday, April 11th, there was an Easter mass at Korean catholic church. The mass presented Jejus's life again and it was good chance to understand about his life. By the way, I hate Easter Bunny. Because when I was a little kid, I saw a scary movie about Easter bunny. And I still feel that time's fear about Easter bunny. :(

Immigrants

As you know, America is the country of immigrants. Isn't it amazing? History of America was started at late 18 century but now America is the biggest and the strongest country in the world. I just knew surface of the history of America. I just knew America is a country of freedom. Last week, I had a chance to visit Bob Bullock Museum. There is a special exhibition. It is about the history of immigrants in America. The truth was different which I had thought. I think those things made present's America. So this time I could think about two faced of success. And also I could know about immigrants' life of other countries. Especially, in Asia, most countries have similar immigrants policy. I think it looks the same as early America's immigrants policy. I really hope all of the counties have the same position in the future. As soon as possible.

Brunch at Cafe Magnolia

Have you been to Cafe Magnolia? It's on west 6th street near Mopac. I've heard about this place last February. Actually, I think I heard about it before but I wasn't interested about it so I can't remember. Haha. One of my friends, she recommended have a brunch someday and we did! We had a brunch the first day of the spring break. When we arrived there the time was before 11 a.m. The place was very crowded so we were very suprised at it. Fortunately, we could get a table right now. When we checked a menu we realized the reason of crowd. It was a South by SouthWest season. My roomate told me we live in austin so that's why we didn't know. kk. We ordered different kinds of omelets and pancakes. I tried all kinds of food which we ordered and it was pretty good. Cafe Magnolia's food is reasonable cost, yummy and sufficient amount. I think it's better than the other restaurants in downtown. What do you do on Next Sunday? :)

Thanks Mom!

Today is my birthday in Korean time. Oh, my God. I'm getting old. Actually, when I was 21 years old, I thought I never got old. After that time, I hate and also like my birthday every time. And this time is very special. This is the first time to have my birthday without my family. Do you know that? In Korea, when people's birthday, they celebrate their birthday with their family and friens, and also thanks to their parents. So many people make MiyokGuk for their parents. MiyokGuk is a kind of soup which is made of seaweed and this one is good for detox. When women birth their baby, they have MiyokGuk for treat in Korea. This year I can't do it for my mother. 5 minutes ago, I called to my mother and told her thanks for birth me. I miss her very much. I hope to see her as soon as possible. And I want to thank to all of my friends. Thanks guys. This birthday is really special to me because of you.

Spring break?

I think spring break is very different between in Korea and US. In Korea, spring break season is usually end of fall semester on February. So students use this break for prepare next semester. Spring semester starts on March in Korea. When I heard about spring break in US, I felt strange. I came to Austin last August. During the fall semester there was no break and this is my first spring break in US. My American friend told me many students comeback their home or go travel during spring break. I think it is good for take a rest during semester. The time is after mid-term and it gives freshness. I also want to go somewhere but I'm so tired and it is good for take a relax and doing nothing. Maybe I'll watch the movies in my computer. Maybe I'll sleep all day long. Haha. Please, hang out with me. ^^;

Snow Falling on Cedars

Have you ever read this book? These days, I read this book in my reading class. When I saw this book first time, I didn't like it. That book looked thick and having many pages so it gave me a lot of pressure. For my last semester, I read a book about homicide and it was so much fun. I expected like that one but my reading teacher told us we need to read about giving something more than fun. That is why we chose "Snow Falling on Cedars". This book's story is very complicated. After World War 2nd, Japanese who lived in US against on racial prejudice. A Japanese man was accused by murder, and a white repoter figured out he's not guilty. Actually, start part of this book is really bored. So my friend recommended me to watch the movie first. The movie was interested. It helped me to understand about the story from the book. And Ethan Hawke was killing hot! kk. :) But! I recommend the movie to watch with your boyfriend/girlfriend. If you are a single, don't watch this movie alone. If you don't listen my advice, you will know my feeling when I saw that movie. ;)

Making Kimchi

Have you heard about Kimchi?
It is traditional Korean food. Actually, it is kind of side dish.:)
Kimchi is fermented cabbage. Some people can't like the smell of Kimchi but if you taste it, you will love it.
When I was in Korea, I was used to make Kimchi.
Making Kimchi starts with arrange resources.
Wash the cabbages and preserve the cabbages with salt for 8 hours. It is for remove water from inside of cabbage.
Then make pepper sauce. Mix ground red pepper with boiled rice starch, minced garlic, minced ginger and salted anchovies or salted shrimps. I prefer to add sliced onion, sliced pear and boiled sweet potato starch. If you want to eat very spicy Kimchi, just add lots of ground red peppers.
Wash the pickled cabbages and put the pepper sauce into the cabbages equally.
Put these cabbages into a case and leave it outside for 2 or 3 days. It is for permentation.
It is all about making Kimchi.
In this weekend, I will make Kimchi. Would you like to try it? :)

I'm a sweet tooth!

Today I had a lunch appointment with my friend who was my classmate in writing class at last semester. I knew her since last August, but it was the first time to have lunch with her. In Korea, if you want to know and keep closer with someone, people usually have a lunch or dinner together. We were so busy each other, actually I don't know why I was busy, so, finally, we had a lunch. Haha. I only knew she loves coffee. When we almost finished our lunch, we started to talk about desert. Oh, my GOD! She loves cheesecake like me! My nickname is cheesecake holic in Korea. Someday we are going to go to cheesecake factory together. kk. These days, I got a homesick again! I really miss the time in Korea. My family, my friends and favorite restaurants! I want to have delicious cheesecake with great wine. OTL

My boy!

This is my boy. His name is Paku. He is six and half years old. How lovely!

Have you heard about Yorkshire Terrier AKA Yorkie? Their ancesters are from England. They were very famous for hunting mice. People call them "Aliving Jewelry".

I have three dogs which species are Yorkshire Terrier. They are family. I mean, real family. Paku is a father of his daughter. In this time, I will only talk about Paku. I still remember when he came to my house. He was a chubby little baby. It might be October 2003. He had a lot of curiousness before he has a daughter, but not now. I think he knew he isn't a baby any more. He loves to play with a ball and something can make sound. He's really good at go & fetch. Or he loves to take a toy from me and chew the toys to maks sounds. My friends told me he could play music, but I think it's just noise. So sometimes I feel tired and want to take a rest, I try to hide his toys. I'm sorry, Paku. :)

My sister took this picture after I came to Austin. He lost weight a lot, because everynight he waited for me in front of the front door. Does he still miss me? I want to he does. Though it past almost 6 month, he gained weight more than before I came to Austin. T-T

Gloomy day

I live in Austin since last August, but I still dislike Austin's weather. I couldn't wear clothes to fit in weather. When I woke up in this morning, outside looked cloudy. I like rainy, but not cloudy. Gray things make me gloomy. I think gloomy day brings bad things. In this morning, my sister called me from South Korea. I sent it January 20, She received it yesterday. She said the parcel that I've sent it was opened and missed contens. Oh, my GOD! Where are the contents? Especially, her birthday present! I'm really sorry to her. I don't know what happened exactly. I just know someone stolen my gift with my best wishes. I sould go to post office tomorrow. What a gloomy day!

Feb 05, 2009

I can't believe I got a car accident yesterday. I was on my way to school. It was around noon. When I had heard siren, I stopped and someone hit my car. I couldn't forget the time. I saw a fire truck through the room mirror, and a car ran to me. I've never thought this kind of accident could happen to me. It was totally injurer's fault, but she's never said "sorry". I'm really upset about it. I want to forget about the accident, but my body tells me I'm shocked. I couldn't realize my body wasn't normal. Thankfully, one of my friend picked me up and brought me to emergency room. I had to wait for meeting Dr. for a while. I cameback to my house, I almost slept 24 hours, but pain is getting worse. I want to know why it happened to me. I just kept the rules...
